Phase 1: Initiation 2025
Phase 1: 2025 registration opens Sept. 17 here.
Phase 1: Initiation is open to all dancers seeking to strengthen their belly dance fundamentals. We suggest at least 1 year of dance experience to get the most out of the practice sessions. Class is taught by Rachel Brice.
Phase 2: Cultivation 2025
Registration opens September 17 here.
Phase 2: Cultivation builds on the lessons from Phase 1, and shifts focus to Datura's challenging dance vocabulary, complex finger cymbal patterns, and developing ideas for dance composition.
Phase 3: Culmination 2025
Registration opens September 18 here.
During Phase 3: Culmination you'll deepen your understanding of dance composition, create dances and dance studies in groups, and continue the work established in Phases 1 and 2.
Phase 4: Transmission 2025
Registration opens September 18 here.
Phase 4: Transmission provides a practical teaching framework that can be used for whichever dance form you choose to teach. You’ll create your own “Datura Style” step and teach it to the class using specific methods of observation and encouragement.

2025 Applications Due
Scholarship and Multi-Phase Applications can be found here. The form will automatically close on the due date. We will contact you if your application is accepted. You may submit as many applications as you wish. Only completed applications will be reviewed.
Phase 4: Transmission 2024
The primary goal of Phase 4: Transmission, is to provide a practical teaching framework that can be used no matter what you choose to teach. In addition to Datura Style technique and vocabulary, you’ll create your own step and teach it to the class using specific methods of observation and encouragement.
